January 2016, the Swedish Bar Association set up a Consumer Disputes Committee. The Consumer Disputes Committee shall hear disputes between the consumer (natural person who has acted outside the business and professional activities) and the lawyer or law firm regarding the service provided by the lawyer or law firm to the consumer.
If the client is dissatisfied with the service provided by the lawyer, the client should contact the lawyer in writing to discuss the matter and to try to reach a solution. If it is not possible to reach a solution by consensus, the client can turn to the Consumer Disputes Committee.
This shall be done in writing and within one year of the complaint being made in writing to the lawyer.
